Resources for Local Entrepreneurs

There is a “push” happening in East Central Indiana where several entities have emerged with the sole purpose of providing resources for and promoting local entrepreneurs. Founded in 2002 through a partnership of Ball State University, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital and the City of Muncie, Innovation Connector offers office space, hi-speed internet connectivity, office machine usage, in an attractive environment, promoting networking with other like-minded entrepreneurs without restricting independence.

A local “Verge Community“, a national creative development platform, has recently been established in Muncie, with the goal of enabling collaborative networking among local entrepreneurs involved in start-up companies. Sustainable Muncie Corporation with the help of MutualBank, the founding sponsor of Muncie’s Verge community, are currently focusing on the Cintas Initiative, a project aimed at “… establishing an entrepreneurship and innovation corridor adjacent to the downtown sector of the communityā€¯.

In November of 2014, the Downtown Business Connector opened up on the first floor of the old Roberts Hotel. It’s mission is to provide a shared, flexible office space, “… halfway between your home office and Starbucks”, for local entrepreneurs as well as traveling businessmen.
